We sell window cleaning, so you would expect our answer to be yes. But since we have built this blog on straight answers, here is the honest version — including the cases where doing it yourself makes perfect sense.

What You Are Actually Paying For

Three things. Time: a full exterior clean that takes us under an hour and a half would absorb most of your Saturday, and we bring everything with us. Safety: anything above ground level is where DIY window cleaning stops being a chore and starts being a risk — our poles work to 11 metres from the ground, so nobody is balancing on a ladder over your extension. The finish: this is the real product. Glass, frames and sills done to a standard where the windows simply look right, every pane, every visit.

The Honest Caveat

With the right equipment and technique, DIY can be genuinely good. We have said it plainly in our guide to the method that works, and we stand by it: a ground-floor home, a decent squeegee and twenty careful minutes can produce a fine result. Where DIY reliably falls down is height, awkward access, and the baked-in dirt a first proper clean has to shift — the work that needs the tools most households do not own.

What It Costs in Dublin

Real numbers, from our own price book: one-off exterior cleans from €35 front-only or €60 front and back, with an initial clean averaging about €75 across the homes we serve. On a recurring plan, visits average around €65 and start from €30 for smaller homes. The full breakdown is on our window cleaning cost page.

Our Verdict

If your windows are ground-floor and you enjoy the job: DIY with pride, using the method we published. If your house has height, skylights, or glass that has not been properly done in years — that is the work we are built for, and a quote takes two minutes.
